Oil prices recorded a decrease of approximately 3%, following an article published by The Wall Street Journal, which suggests that American President Donald Trump is reluctant regarding the resumption of military conflict with Iran. At the time of writing, WTI oil was priced at $92.30 per barrel, while Brent oil was at $94.58. Trump reportedly told his advisors that the current ceasefire with Iran will be maintained, except in the situation where Iran would cause casualties among American soldiers. Although the White House has not directly commented on the information, an official emphasized that the president favors diplomatic solutions. Tensions between the two states have recently escalated after Iran suspended contacts; however, the situation has de-escalated following a ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon. At the same time, Trump is facing opposition in Congress, where a resolution regarding the withdrawal of American forces has been adopted. The evolution of oil prices reflects investors' hopes that risks to supply from the Middle East have decreased, at least temporarily.
