Nicușor Dan explains the funding of churches and the Cathedral of the Salvation of the Nation

President Nicușor Dan stated that the Capital City Hall has provided limited funds for churches, especially for historical monuments, estimating the subsidies at approximately 5-6 million lei per year. In 2025, the General Council voted on an amendment to allocate 20 million lei for the Cathedral of the Salvation of the Nation, a decision that Dan specified was not made personally, but was the result of the councilors' vote.

He emphasized that, although the budget has been tight, the Cathedral is a project desired by many Romanians. Regarding the slogan 'We want hospitals, not cathedrals', used by USR, Dan stated that he did not agree with this wording and emphasized the importance of a balance between conservative and progressive perspectives in society.
