Netflix has hired investment bank Moelis & Co to evaluate a potential takeover offer for Warner Bros Discovery, already having access to the group's financial data. This move could transform Netflix from a simple streaming service into an entertainment giant, bringing under its umbrella franchises like Harry Potter, Batman, and Game of Thrones. Ted Sarandos, CEO of Netflix, stated that although the company is more of a builder than a buyer, it is analyzing opportunities that could enhance its entertainment offering. However, Netflix does not intend to enter the traditional TV networks market, such as CNN or TNT. Such an acquisition could provide subscribers with access to premium content, including HBO movies and series, but it could also affect subscription prices. Meanwhile, Warner Bros Discovery is evaluating several options, including takeover offers, with significant interest from the Paramount group, which proposed an offer of about $60 billion, but was rejected by the current CEO.
