The NBR added €2.6 billion to Romania's reserves in June 2025, after spending billions to support the leu.

In June 2025, the National Bank of Romania recorded an increase of EUR 2.6 billion in international reserves, reaching a total of EUR 67.62 billion. This was the result of an inflow of €6.1 billion and an outflow of €3.4 billion from the reserve. The NBR also adopted a strategy of diversifying its reserves, focusing more on the US dollar, which resulted in a profit of almost RON 4 billion in 2024.
