In June 2025, the National Bank of Romania recorded an increase of EUR 2.6 billion in international reserves, reaching a total of EUR 67.62 billion. This was the result of an inflow of €6.1 billion and an outflow of €3.4 billion from the reserve. The NBR also adopted a strategy of diversifying its reserves, focusing more on the US dollar, which resulted in a profit of almost RON 4 billion in 2024.
