The official exchange rate announced by the NBR shows a fall of the euro to 5.0553 lei, compared to 5.0625 lei previously. The dollar reached 4.4593 lei, down from 4.4604 lei. The pound sterling and the Swiss franc were quoted at 6.0261 lei and 5.3938 lei respectively. In contrast, the price of gold rose to RON 476.5712 per gram from RON 472.9221.
