USR Deputy Claudiu Năsui commented on Wednesday at RFI, the decrease of inflation to 8.2% in July 2026, emphasizing that this should not be interpreted as a way out of economic difficulties.

Năsui, former Minister of Economy, explained that the reduction of inflation is influenced by the base effect, meaning the comparison of current prices with those from a year ago. Although any decrease in inflation is good news, he warned that the level remains high and that we should not relax.

Năsui mentioned that the budget deficit continues to be a major problem, and the decrease in inflation is partly due to the delay in budget expenditures. He emphasized the importance of comparing the economic situation with other European countries and warned against an exaggerated optimistic perception.

INS data shows a significant decrease in inflation, from 10.4% in the previous month.
