Metrorex announced that the tender for the purchase of trains intended for Line 6, which connects Gara de Nord to Henri Coandă Airport, will be launched in the fourth quarter of 2025, a delay compared to previous estimates that indicated the end of 2024. This postponement raises significant risks, including the possibility that the metro may be completed without available trains. Gabriel Stanciu, the general director of Alstom, emphasized that without organizing the tender, it is unrealistic to expect the metro to be operational by 2028. The documentation for the tender is in the final verification stage and is set to be approved by the competent authorities. Work on Line 6 is affected by delays in signing contracts, and the completion of the project is now estimated for 2029, compared to the initial forecasts of 2027.
