Customs employees will begin to conduct inspections in the territory, for better collection of taxes and duties. This is just one of the three pillars on which the largest reorganization of the customs system in recent history will be based.

"Through this reorganization, we are taking a new step towards a more efficient, more transparent customs system that is better adapted to current economic realities. The clear separation of functions, the use of risk analysis, and the digitization of processes allow us to reduce customs clearance times and to focus control where it is truly necessary. It is a change in approach, aimed at supporting legitimate trade and strengthening the state's control capacity. The existing structure no longer effectively responded to operational challenges, being characterized by a high level of hierarchy, overlapping responsibilities, and a slow decision-making system, which generated long customs clearance times and administrative pressure on economic operators," said Alexandru Nazare, the Minister of Finance.
