Data analysis shows an inflation rate of 9.8% in October 2025 compared to the same month in 2024, which particularly affects SMEs by increasing production costs and decreasing sales, thus diminishing their competitiveness. The White Paper on SMEs in Romania, 2025, emphasizes the need for support measures, considering the current economic context characterized by increased taxation, disruptions in supply chains, and rising prices for energy and raw materials. Among the proposed measures are the development of a stable economic environment, tax incentives for the green transition, funding for investments, and deregulation. Florin Jianu, president of SMEs Romania, mentioned that Romanian SMEs are becoming uncompetitive in the European single market and it is essential to implement measures similar to those in other EU countries to support these enterprises.
