The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has issued a warning regarding the economic risks generated by the war against Iran, emphasizing that it could cause a 'global, but asymmetric' shock.

Countries in Africa and Asia, dependent on oil imports, are facing difficulties in securing their needs, even at high prices.

The IMF estimates that the impact on supply chains and infrastructure will depend on the duration of the conflict. The price of Brent crude has risen to 115 dollars per barrel, amid tensions in the Middle East.

Additionally, higher prices for food and fertilizers are affecting low-income economies, increasing the risk of food insecurity. The IMF emphasizes that people in poor countries are the most vulnerable, and any sudden increase in food and fertilizer prices can generate economic and socio-political problems.

A detailed report on global economic prospects will be published next month, during the spring meetings of the IMF and the World Bank.
