HORSE H12 Concept is a new engine developed by Horse Powertrain in partnership with Repsol, designed to replace the mild-hybrid HR12 engines in Dacia models. This three-cylinder engine promises ultra-high efficiency, reducing fuel consumption by 40%, reaching 3.3 liters/100 km, comparable to PHEV vehicles. Designed in Spain, the engine uses renewable fuel, being compatible with European Union regulations after 2035. The technology includes an innovative combustion system, an optimized turbocharger, and an improved hybrid transmission. The project has passed the prototype phase, and the first test vehicles will be equipped with this engine in 2026.
Horse Powertrain, resulting from the merger of the engine divisions of Renault and Geely, aims to reduce emissions through various technological solutions, including renewable fuels. Repsol has already started producing 100% renewable gasoline, compatible with current engines.
