A new set of tax measures proposed by the government aims to significantly increase taxes, including VAT from 19% to 21% and an increase in turnover tax in the banking sector. It also plans to increase excise duties on fuel, alcohol and tobacco, as well as taxing large pensions. In addition, spending cuts of 23 billion lei in 2023 and 44.47 billion lei in 2026 are planned, including a freeze on public sector salaries and pensions.
