Gold had an exceptional year, with a 58.6% increase since the beginning of the year, surpassing the historic threshold of $4,000 per ounce on October 8. A Goldman Sachs survey conducted between November 12 and 14 shows that 36% of institutional investors surveyed believe that gold will exceed $5,000 an ounce by the end of 2026. Another 33% estimate a price between $4,500 and $5,000. Gold prices have recently risen, influenced by expectations of a reduction in the Federal Reserve's monetary policy interest rate.
Investors are migrating towards gold as a safe-haven asset due to persistent inflation, geopolitical tensions, and the weakening dollar. Central banks continue to buy gold, attracted by high liquidity. Analysts anticipate that the upward trend will continue, and some investors are turning their attention to the stocks of mining companies, such as Newmont and Snowline Gold, in the context of sector consolidation.
