Germany is preparing a legislative initiative to impose a 10% tax on the advertising revenues of digital giants such as Google and Facebook. The measure could generate significant additional revenues for the Romanian budget, as digital platforms' revenues are under-reported. In Romania, advertising revenues are expected to grow and the application of a similar tax could bring around €80 million annually to the state budget. The initiative is supported by media organizations and could influence digital tax reform in Romania.
