The free trade agreement, initialed in Bali, will facilitate trade between the 27 EU member states and Indonesia, the largest economy in Southeast Asia. The negotiations were accelerated by U.S. trade policies. 80% of Indonesian products will benefit from zero tariffs, and European exporters will save 600 million euros annually. The agreement is set to be ratified by national parliaments and will come into force, at the earliest, in 2027.
