The National Bank of Romania reported an appreciation of the euro, valued at 5.0774 lei, and of the Swiss franc to 5.4484 lei. The US dollar fell to 4.3275 lei and the pound sterling to 5.8916 lei. In contrast, the gram of gold rose by more than 4 lei to 462.6381 lei. The exchange rates are set on the basis of quotes from authorized banks, without requiring their use in transactions.
