Volker Raffel, president of ACUE, says the energy and gas price cap scheme, designed as a temporary solution, is no longer justified. Continuing it would create financial risks as the state has to cut spending and raise taxes. Raffel points out that the cap has artificially kept prices below real prices, affecting suppliers and consumers. Now bills will reflect real costs and the state will intervene with support for vulnerable consumers, not all customers. He recommends a careful analysis of energy offers and suggests investing in infrastructure to reduce prices in the long term.
