OMV has announced that Emma Delaney will take over as CEO, succeeding Alfred Stern, starting September 1, 2026. Delaney was chosen as 'the best candidate' following an international selection process, due to her extensive professional experience.
Her term is three years, with the possibility of a two-year extension, depending on the agreement of the parties. Her appointment must be approved by the supervisory board of OMV, which has not yet announced the date of the meeting.
If confirmed, Delaney will become the first female CEO in OMV's history, which will provide the company with increased international visibility, according to the Vice Chair of the Supervisory Board, Edith Hlawati.
Currently, Delaney is a member of the executive board of BP, leading a global division with over 50,000 employees in approximately 50 countries. The number of women in leadership positions at major international oil and gas companies remains low, with only a few notable examples, such as Meg O'Neill at BP and Vicki Hollub at Occidental Petroleum. OMV Aktiengesellschaft holds 51.156% of the shares in OMV Petrom, while the Romanian state, through the Ministry of Energy, holds 20.698%.
