The analysis highlights that, although the CEE-11 countries, including Romania, have experienced rapid economic development, demographic challenges and a lack of innovation threaten the continuation of this trend. Romania stands out for its rapid reduction of the gap compared to the EU-15, but risks such as population decline and inefficiency in research investments may affect the future. Economists propose various scenarios for the period 2025-2035, emphasizing the need for a transition to an innovation-based economic model and sustainable demographic policies.
