According to the EBRD report, the Romanian economy slowed down significantly in 2023, with growth of 2.1%. This was mainly due to high inflation, which led to a decline in private consumption. The report also highlights that the main vulnerability of the economy remains the fiscal position, with the deficit worsening to 5.9% of GDP in 2023.
