The extremely low levels of the Rhine have begun to severely affect the German industry, causing disruptions in transport and production.

Chemical producers, energy companies, and agricultural traders are facing restrictions and increased costs. Covestro has declared a major force for certain products due to the inability to transport the necessary volumes by river.

The Rhine, a crucial artery for the economy, does not allow the normal loading of barges, which increases costs and the number of transports. The problems also affect the energy sector, with decreases in production at hydroelectric plants. The steel industry is looking for alternative routes, but the limited capacity of the transport infrastructure makes transfer difficult and costly.

Agricultural traders fear a worsening of the situation, and the effects of the drought are spreading across all sectors. If the water level does not improve, the German industry will face severe difficulties.
