The Dacia Automobile Union (SAD) announced on Friday that the Mioveni plant will register a decline in production this year, after more than two decades, which will lead to significant staff reductions.
The Renault Group recently decided to produce the Dacia Striker model in Turkey and a new electric model in Slovenia, not in Mioveni, due to delayed infrastructure, high energy costs, and fiscal instability. The Dacia plant provides approximately 10,000 direct jobs and supports tens of thousands more indirectly, and the decline in production will have a major impact on the local economy.
The year 2026 will mark a reduction in production and the layoff of approximately 1,200 employees, which could severely affect the economy of Argeș County. Union members emphasize the importance of fiscal stability and modern infrastructure for attracting investments in Romania.
