The Craiova Local Council has increased the property taxes by 80% for 2026, according to the amendments made to the tax code by the Government.

As a result of the amendment to the tax code, property taxes for individuals in Craiova will increase by approximately 80% in 2026 compared to 2025. The Local Council voted for this measure in December 2025, but AUR councilor Ana Koc emphasized that the real decision belongs to the Government, which has already established these increases through law 239/2025. Koc criticized the fact that the majority of councilors are put in a position to bear the negative reactions of citizens regarding these increases. PSD Deputy Mayor Marian Păloiu explained that the increases are related to the conditions imposed by USR in the PNRR from 2021, and their non-implementation would have led to financial losses. Additionally, taxes on means of transport will be doubled in 2026 compared to 2025.
