INS: Bulgaria and Romania recorded in 2024 the lowest prices for consumer goods in the EU, at 39% and, respectively, 36% below the European Union average.

According to data from the National Institute of Statistics (INS) and Eurostat, Bulgaria had in 2024 the lowest level of prices for consumer goods and services in the EU, being 39% below the European Union average, followed by Romania, which was 36% below average.

At the Union level, prices for final consumption of households varied from 61 euros in Bulgaria to 141 euros in Denmark. Romania is the cheapest country in the EU for the group "Food and non-alcoholic beverages", while Bulgaria remains among the top in several product categories, including "Alcoholic beverages and tobacco" and "Clothing and footwear".
