The Bulgarian state company Bulgargaz has submitted a proposal to the Energy and Water Regulatory Commission (EWRC) for a slight reduction in the price of natural gas starting in June. If the proposal is approved, the price of gas will decrease to 35.62 euros per megawatt-hour (MWh), which represents a 1% decrease compared to the price in May, which was 35.98 euros per MWh.

Veselin Sinabov, the head of the company, emphasized that the price structure benefits from long-term contracts, especially the one with Azerbaijan, essential for deliveries through the IGB interconnector. Additionally, Bulgargaz purchases liquefied natural gas from international traders. The price on the European market, at the TTF hub in Amsterdam, is at 46.40 euros per MWh, higher than that in Bulgaria. The final decision regarding the price of natural gas will be made by EWRC on June 1, after analyzing the data provided by Bulgargaz and from the market.
