The Board of Administration of the National Bank of Romania (BNR) decided, on Tuesday, to maintain the monetary policy interest rate at 6.50% per year. This decision reflects the BNR's assessments regarding the economic evolution and inflation in the country.
According to BNR forecasts, the annual inflation rate will continue to decrease slowly in the first quarter of 2026, followed by an increase in the second quarter, before recording a sharp downward correction in the third quarter of the same year. These expectations suggest a complex dynamic of inflation in the upcoming period, influenced by various economic factors.
