AUR no longer votes on PSD amendments regarding the social package

Petrișor Peiu, the president of the National Leadership Council and leader of the AUR senators, announced that AUR parliamentarians will not participate in the joint budget committees nor in the vote for the amendment submitted by PSD, which proposes a one-time aid for pensioners with low pensions. Peiu emphasized that PSD should respect the law that mandates the annual indexing of pensions, arguing that all pensions should be increased, not just for some pensioners.

The PSD amendments, submitted on Monday, aim to increase spending by approximately 3.4 billion lei for social assistance measures, including aid for pensioners and families with low incomes. One of the amendments provides for the allocation of 1.1 billion lei to support families with children and aid for 2.8 million pensioners, estimating a cost of 2.35 billion lei for the year 2026.
