Before the discussions about administrative reform, AUR Senate leader Petrișor Peiu stated that the party would not vote for a potential government led by Luca Niculescu, amid criticism that the prime minister’s appointment had been made without taking the parties’ proposals into account and with an approach seen as an assertion of the president’s personal authority.
At the same time, Peiu argued that there is a parliamentary majority in favor of holding snap elections and said that AUR had asked President Nicușor Dan for clarifications during the consultations, reiterating that the party refuses to join the government in the absence of a governing agreement. He also accused the head of state of violating the Constitution by excluding AUR from the formation of the government.
