In April, Asian buyers purchased approximately 60 million barrels of American oil, marking the largest amount bought in a single month in the last three years, according to Bloomberg. This increase in demand comes as a result of the de facto closure of the Strait of Hormuz, which has severely affected Asian nations that depend on oil from the Persian Gulf. Among the buyers are refiners from Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Singapore, and Thailand. The U.S., the largest oil producer in the world, benefits from this increase in demand, while Brent oil prices have risen significantly, reaching 115 dollars per barrel. This trend suggests a shift in the dynamics of the global energy market, with Asia seeking alternatives to traditional sources of supply.
