The President of the National Agency for Fiscal Administration (ANAF), Adrian Nica, claims that homemade jam affects Romania's VAT gap.
"We are waiting for publication in 2023. We have seen that neighboring countries, such as Bulgaria, have requested specialized assistance to have a correct formula for calculating these differences, especially when we talk about the VAT gap. This is what we are trying to do as well, to present ourselves better and more accurately to the European Commission. It is well known the discussion that has arisen in the public space regarding the production that Romania registers, being specific to this country, when we talk about self-consumption. And to give a few clear examples: the way we treat the jam that grandma makes at home. Yes, it is calculated today in the VAT gap," explained the head of ANAF, Adrian Nica.
