The Amazon Development Center in Iasi will lay off more than 500 employees in the Retail Business Services division, which is responsible for creating catalogs for customers. By the end of 2024, the company will have 3,424 employees, down significantly from a peak of 4,234 in 2022. The decision comes in the context of an internal review and recalibration of its working model, following poor post-pandemic financial results. Amazon remains the county's largest employer, but recent restructures suggest a shift in operational strategy.
