In an operation carried out on Tuesday afternoon, the police in Winterthur managed to dismantle two groups of pickpockets, caught in the act at the Oberwinterthur train station. The suspects, two Romanian men, were observed by investigators after one of them withdrew cash from an ATM and threw the stolen card under a parked car. The police intervened quickly and noticed a vehicle with three occupants, two of whom were women, partially disguised, attempting to withdraw money using stolen credit cards.
Following the check, the police confiscated the cards and arrested the two women, aged 24 and 35, and during the search of the car, they discovered 6,000 Swiss francs. The driver, a 32-year-old man, was also detained. Authorities established that all five arrested individuals were wanted for involvement in several pickpocketing incidents in the German-speaking territory of Switzerland.
