Ángel Víctor Torres, the Spanish Minister of Territorial Policies and Democratic Memory, stated that the monument dedicated to the Romanians who fell at Majadahonda will be included in the catalog of symbols contrary to Democratic Memory and will be demolished.

This decision was announced on Tuesday, during a press conference in Madrid, and is part of a broader measure targeting three other vestiges of the Francoist regime in Tenerife, Murcia, and Almería. The monument, inaugurated in 1970 to honor Ion Moța and Vasile Marin, leaders of the Iron Guard, has been considered a glorification of European fascism and has been a gathering place for far-right groups. The technical expert commission confirmed that the monument promotes fascist ideologies, and the minister emphasized the importance of removing these vestiges to ensure a public space free from the exaltation of hatred and dictatorship.

Other monuments included in the catalog are the Victory Monument in Santa Cruz de Tenerife and the inscriptions in honor of José Antonio Primo de Rivera in the cathedrals of Murcia and Almería.
