A joint operation by the police of Spain and Romania led to the arrest of 10 Romanians, accused of robbing trucks and lorries on the highways of Western Europe. The estimated damages from the robberies committed in Spain amount to 418,000 euros, with 11 incidents reported.
The method used by the criminals, known as the "surfer method," involves following trucks on the highway, slowing them down by surrounding them with cars, and, at the right moment, cutting the seals on the doors to steal the goods. The truck drivers did not realize they had been robbed until they reached their destination.
The thieves specialized in stealing household appliances, and their capture took place in Toledo, where they were apprehended. One of the suspects had an arrest warrant issued by the police in Romania.
