A Romanian man is under investigation in Italy after leaving his 7-year-old daughter locked in a car, in the sun, for more than an hour

A Romanian man is under investigation in Italy for abandoning a minor after leaving his 7-year-old daughter alone in a car parked in the sun, in the center of the city of Padua. The incident occurred on Saturday, September 26, at around 11:45 a.m., in the Prato della Valle area.

A passerby noticed the child in the vehicle and alerted the authorities. Police officers and firefighters intervened after finding that the girl had been in the car for more than an hour and that the doors and windows were locked. Because there was a risk that her condition might worsen, firefighters smashed the rear left window and quickly removed her.

The girl was examined by medical personnel and was in good condition, being only slightly agitated. She had managed to contact her mother, who alerted the emergency services.

Police established that the father had gone shopping at the market and had left the child his mobile phone. The man was identified and reported to the Italian judicial authorities while remaining at liberty. The girl was handed over to her mother, and the investigation continues to determine the father's liability.
