The dramatic incident took place in an apartment on Via Cortina d'Ampezzo, Italy, where two Romanian workers were taken hostage by the 89-year-old owner, known to have serious mental health issues. The elderly man pulled out a gun and threatened those present, including his wife and her caregiver. Florin managed to retreat and call the police, alerting the authorities. Following the police's rapid intervention, his father took refuge on the balcony and remained in contact with the law enforcement forces.

After nearly two hours of tension, a psychologist managed to convince the elderly man to reveal himself, allowing the police to intervene and disarm him. Several weapons were found in the residence, and the aggressor was not arrested due to his mental state.
