
In a press conference, General Gheorghiță Vlad, Chief of the General Staff of the Army, stated that the mobilization of Romanians abroad in case of war is a legal and constitutional obligation. He emphasized that Romania must have a sufficient population to support the war effort, mentioning that, in accordance with Bill 446, the deadline for reporting to units will be changed to 15 days. The general highlighted that, although some citizens may choose to leave the country during conflicts, it is essential for the state to encourage citizens' responsibility in fulfilling constitutional duties.
Regarding the preparation of the Romanian Army, the general stated that it is well-prepared, having an ambitious equipping program and actively participating in international exercises. He also mentioned the need to recover the capability deficit accumulated over the last 30 years, emphasizing the importance of resources, both financial and human, to meet NATO standards. The general expressed optimism regarding the improvement of the necessary conditions for national defense.
