A 23-year-old soldier was found dead in a military unit in Deva, after he shot himself with his service weapon.

On Monday morning, a 23-year-old young man, a sergeant in the Military Unit 01794 from Deva, was found shot, having a wound under his chin. The doctors who arrived at the scene declared the soldier dead. The incident was reported to the police on December 22, 2025, and the soldier was on guard duty at the time of the tragedy.

It appears that the weapon used, a Carpați, was in his possession. According to sources, it is suspected that the young man may have taken his own life. The case has been taken over by the Military Prosecutor's Office near the Military Tribunal of Timișoara, which has launched an investigation to clarify the circumstances of the incident.
