A 26-year-old man from Galați was stopped by the police on January 11, 2026, driving at 169 km/h on DN 25, in an area where the limit was 50 km/h, thus exceeding the legal speed by 119 km/h. The police fined him 1,822.5 lei and suspended his driving license for 150 days, considering that the offense was committed for the second time in the last six months. Although a temporary replacement for the license was issued, the young man was caught driving again the next day. Following this incident, the police opened a criminal case for driving a vehicle without a license.
