The National Meteorological Administration issued three yellow warnings for atmospheric instability and torrential rains on Wednesday that will affect almost the entire country until Friday.
The first warning comes into effect on Wednesday at 12:00 PM and remains valid until 9:00 PM for the north and center of Muntenia, southern Moldova, northern Dobrogea, and the Southern and Curvature Carpathians, where there will be periods of atmospheric instability manifested by torrential downpours, electrical discharges, wind intensifications, isolated gusts (speeds of 50...70 km/h) and small to medium-sized hail. In short intervals (1...3 hours) or through accumulation, there will be water quantities of 15...25 l/m² and isolated over 30...40 l/m².
According to meteorologists, the counties affected are Vâlcea, Argeș, Dâmbovița, Prahova, Buzău, Vrancea, Galați, Tulcea, Ialomița, Ilfov, and in the municipality of Bucharest where specific phenomena of atmospheric instability are forecasted.
The ANM emphasizes that manifestations of atmospheric instability will occur in restricted areas in the rest of the regions in the southern and eastern parts of the country, as well as in the mountains.
Storms move to the northwest of the country on Thursday morning
In the first part of Thursday, there will be a yellow warning for wind intensifications and atmospheric instability until around 10:00 AM in Banat, Crișana, Maramureș, and western Transylvania, where there will be periods of atmospheric instability manifested by wind intensifications (speeds of 50...70 km/h) and isolated gusts, electrical discharges, and showers (15...25 l/m²).

In contrast, storms will expand and cover almost the entire country on Thursday afternoon, while the ANM issued a yellow warning for Maramureș, Transylvania, Oltenia, western and northwestern Muntenia, western and northern Moldova, and in the mountainous area, the wind will have speeds of 50...70 km/h and small to medium-sized hail is expected. Meteorologists state that such phenomena will also occur on the night of Thursday to Friday (June 11/12) in most areas, and during the day on Friday (June 12) especially in the eastern half of the country.
