A 43-year-old woman has been placed in preventive detention in Constanța for attempted drug trafficking.

A 43-year-old woman was placed in preventive arrest after attempting to send 35 doses of cocaine from Constanța to Austria, using an international courier company.

The incident was documented by the police of the Constanța Organized Crime Fighting Brigade, in collaboration with DIICOT prosecutors. At the end of July 2026, the woman was caught in possession of a package containing drugs, which she attempted to declare as documents in the shipping paperwork. On August 3, a home search was conducted in Galați County, where additional evidence was gathered.

The judge for rights and freedoms at the Constanța Tribunal approved the preventive arrest of the woman for 30 days, as she is accused of attempting to introduce high-risk drugs into the country and drug trafficking. The legal measures do not affect the presumption of innocence, which can only be challenged by a final court ruling.
