The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE) informs Romanian carriers that, starting from January 1, 2026, a weight restriction of 7.5 tons will be implemented on the main road section no. 42, between Berettyóujfalu and the border with Romania. Freight vehicles exceeding this weight will be required to use exclusively the M4 motorway, which offers better traffic conditions. Exceptions to the restriction apply to vehicles destined for the towns of Biharkeresztes and Artánd, as well as buses.

In justified cases, carriers can request a free access permit from Magyar Közút Nonprofit Zrt. MAE provides contact information for consular assistance and recommends consulting official websites for additional details.
