The Minister of Environment, Diana Buzoianu, stated that starting Tuesday, works will be carried out by the water operator ESZ to supplement the water reserves in Prahova, where several localities have been left without drinking water due to the increased turbidity of the Paltinul reservoir. The works require lowering the water level and are critical for the safety of the dam and the population.
Buzoianu emphasized the importance of local authorities having strategies to cope with similar situations in the future. She also accused the state companies Apele Române and ESZ of lacking effective communication with the mayors, who were informed late about the water supply interruption. Currently, approximately 100,000 residents are affected, and students from 13 localities will not go to school. Authorities have started supplying bottled water to the population.
