The Vice-President of the European Parliament, Victor Negrescu, has proposed that frontline states should have privileged access to European defense funds. The request includes an amendment to the European Defence Industry Program, which has a budget of €1.5 billion for 2025-2027, and a letter to the President of the European Commission on the new €150 billion defense funding instrument. Negrescu underlines the solidarity of Romania and other countries on the EU's borders, highlighting the security challenges these countries face.
