Veaceslav Platon, convicted by Russia for facilitating the illegal embezzlement of 126 billion rubles, has been detained in the UK. The Moldovan Prosecutor's Office has been informed of the detention and is in contact with the British authorities for extradition proceedings. Platon left the Republic of Moldova in 2020 after being released at the request of former Prosecutor General Alexandr Stoianoglo.
