The Minister of Finance, Alexandru Nazare, expressed in November the preference for this maintenance, emphasizing that a final decision was to be made during the preparations for the budget. The maintenance of this rate was carried out after consultations with the European Commission, considering that Romania is in an excessive deficit procedure, with a budget deficit on ESA standards of 9.3% of GDP last year, the highest in the EU.
