The Save Romania Union (USR) has asked the leadership of the Chamber of Deputies to sanction AUR deputy Dan Tanasă, after he made controversial statements from the podium, comparing USR to 'venereal disease or mental illness'.
USR believes that these statements affect the dignity of the individuals involved and have an 'offensive and degrading' character. Vlad Șendroiu, deputy leader of the USR deputies, emphasized that such comparisons are a blow to the vulnerable and that parliamentary debates should focus on ideas and public policies, not personal attacks. Tanasă made these comments in the context of a debate about a cultural resolution, being warned by the chairwoman of the meeting, Natalia Intotero, to watch his language. USR has requested the sanctioning of Tanasă for violating parliamentary conduct norms.
