The host of the “Sinteza zilei” program on Antena 3 CNN, Mihai Gâdea, verbally attacked USR representative Radu Mihaiu on Thursday evening during a debate about the party’s positioning toward the PSD, amid President Nicușor Dan’s recent designation of liberal Siegfried Mureșan for the position of prime minister. Following the exchange, Mihaiu left the studio, and the National Audiovisual Council received a complaint regarding the incident.
“You, shameless people,” the host said, reproaching USR representatives for having previously claimed that they would not cooperate with the PSD and AUR, and subsequently leaving open the possibility of cooperating with the Social Democrats to support Siegfried Mureșan in Parliament for the position of head of government.
Radu Mihaiu asked whether the insult was directed at him personally, and Gâdea clarified that he was referring to USR leader Dominic Fritz. The discussion continued in a tense tone after sociologist Vladimir Ionaș accused USR representatives of “betrayal,” a term also used in recent weeks by PSD leaders.
Ultimately, Mihaiu removed his lapel microphone and left the studio. “If all you can do is insult your guests without presenting any kind of argument, goodbye,” the USR representative stated.
According to sources cited by HotNews, the National Audiovisual Council has already received a complaint, which is to be analyzed at the institution’s upcoming meetings. The disagreement comes amid political negotiations concerning the formation of a majority and a new government.
