Marian Godină reports AUR deputy Dan Tănasă to the General Prosecutor’s Office over insulting comments and requests an investigation into a possible offense of abusive conduct

Former Brașov police officer Marian Godină notified the Prosecutor’s Office attached to the High Court of Cassation and Justice on Monday regarding AUR MP Dan Tănasă, requesting that insulting comments addressed to citizens on Facebook be investigated and that the existence of the offense of abusive conduct be established.

Godină claims that the lawmaker responded to some users using expressions such as “mucus eater,” “you clap like a seal,” and “you’ve started bleating.” The former police officer says he saved screenshots of the comments and cites the provisions of the Criminal Code concerning the use of insulting expressions by a person in the exercise of their official duties.

The move comes after Tănasă argued that his activity on Facebook constitutes the permanent exercise of his parliamentary mandate. He also noted that the MP had deleted a post for which he had previously been reported, concerning the refusal of orders delivered by foreign citizens.

Tănasă rejected the accusations regarding that post, stating that he had expressed a political opinion and had not called for violence. In a separate case, the MP was indicted for incitement to violence, hatred, or discrimination. Godină is also requesting clarification regarding the loans mentioned in the lawmaker’s statement of assets.
