The Rector of the University of Bucharest, Marian Preda, together with former President Emil Constantinescu, has called on the candidates in the 2025 presidential elections to sign a Declaration supporting democracy and the rule of law. This will take place on April 24, 2025 and includes commitments such as Romania's membership of the EU and NATO, guaranteeing freedom of expression and respect for the Constitution. The University also proposes to organize a debate between the qualified candidates in the second round. This initiative reflects the desire to promote democratic values and a stable future for Romania.
